Hall & Oates were a hit making machine throughout the '80s. By the time their Private Eyes album was released in 1981, they had already achieve two #1 singles and a few other top ten hits. The first two singles released from Private Eyes, the title track and "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" would both peak at the top spot on the US Hot 100 chart. The latter would also top the R&B charts, which was a rarity for a non-African American group.
The 12" single for "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" featured an Extended Club Mix by Robert Wright that would add over 2 minutes compared to the album version. Side B was "Unguarded Minute," a Private Eyes album track.
