SYNTHWAVE: New Synthpop Single 'Break Away' by The Forgotten

The synthwave band The Forgotten has released the third single "Break Away" from the upcoming EP Chapter II: Into New Realities. Conceptually, the album is many stories told in a ‘multiverse’ and the previously release singles included "Axs" (a collaboration with Boovox)" and "Transcend" (a collaboration with Forero).

This is the first time I've really dug into The Forgotten's discography and I really like what I've heard so far. According to FiXT, "they have dropped a plethora of well-received synthwave remixes, collaborations, and singles and are back to welcome listeners into the cosmic journey." Among the tracks I came across from The Forgotten was a rad cover of the Stranger Things theme, released earlier this year. I'm a huge fan of the show and the synthwave music incorporated into the score. I could listen to the theme on continuous loop and when I heard The Forgotten's "Cyberpunk Version", I thought it added a whole new element of synth (if that is even possible.)

"Break Away" Review: I really like the ambient intro and how the beat builds. The vocals really stand out. The echo effect makes them very large but its the added backing vocals with electronic effects that make them unique. The mix of English and Spanish between the first two verses is really cool, something you rarely hear in any style of music. Some really fun synth work at the break, almost sounds like it could be in the next Sonic the Hedgehog video game.

The lyrics are really powerful as well:

Let me break away
Let mе sail away
Outrun the time
And be ablе to forget your name
I want to escape today
I want to leave this place
All I want
Is to be able to forget your name

"Break Away" is out now from independent multi-genre music label FiXT. Listen to the single below or use the link to connect in your favorite music streaming app.
